A very warm welcome back to our students, parents and teachers for the new school year. Also a very warm welcome to our new students, parents and teachers.
I hope you have all enjoyed a very peaceful and restful summer, wherever it was spent.
The new teachers arrived at the beginning of September and have been acclimatising themselves to Qatar and the Academy. They have been eagerly awaiting the return of our students and were not disappointed when that day finally came last Sunday, September 19th. I was delighted to see most of our students return on time after the long vacation, a positive beginning to the year.
The first week of this academic year was very productive, with students settling into their courses with renewed enthusiasm. I walked round the two schools on several occasions and was delighted to see the interaction between students and teachers, and the eagerness of the students to learn.
You will have two opportunities to receive feedback on how your children are doing this term. The first one being a parents' evening, where you can meet all the subject teachers and speak directly about the progress of your children and the requirements of each subject. The second one will be a progress report at the end of the term.
We are putting together a programme of after school activities for the benefit of our students. They will have the opportunity to enhance a subject already being learnt or expand their education by taking up something completely new. Encourage your children to take part in one of these activities to broaden their horizons.
Throughout the year, students are given the chance to take part in school trips. This may be within Doha or some may be fortunate enough to travel further afield. For example, the Humanities field trip which is going to Switzerland in November. A practical, hands on experience to boost their learning in school.
It is going to be a busy year and I look forward to your continued support in all we do here.
