WORLD CLASS FACILITIES
Al Jazeera Academy is a purpose-built international school with
world-class state-of-the-art educational facilities.
General Classroom Facilities
The Academy has 53 general primary and secondary classrooms
built to international school standards. Our classrooms are spacious
with good natural light and equipped with the latest audio-visual and
multi-media equipment and resources.
Our general classrooms in the
Primary School have a wide variety of the latest educational resources.
They are planned to provide students with a variety of learning
environments.
Specialist Classroom Facilities
The Academy has the most current specialist teaching and learning
facilities for international schools. These include:
- Fully equipped science laboratories in both the Primary and
Secondary Schools.
- State of the art computer-based language laboratories for the
teaching of English as an additional language, Arabic, French and
Spanish. These laboratories are unique to Qatar, if not to the Gulf
area.
- Well-equipped computer laboratories in the Primary and Secondary
Schools for the teaching of information technology, as well as, for
the use of computers as research or presentation tools in other
subjects.
- A very large library for secondary students with senior study
rooms for group discussions and a mezzanine floor for the senior
secondary students to use for private study and research.
- A separate Primary School library for use by Primary students.
- Music studios for instrumental music teaching and practice, and
music rooms for the teaching of music theory and composition in both
the Primary and Secondary Schools.
Our future expansion plans include:
- Extensive visual arts workshops and teaching rooms in the
Primary and Secondary schools for the teaching of painting,
3-dimensional arts (including sculpture and ceramics), photography
and art history, as well as kiln spaces, pottery and art project
stores and a professional standard darkroom.
- Well-equipped technology workshops for the teaching of wood,
metals and plastics technologies to secondary students. These
facilities will be designed and equipped to international safety
standards.
Physical Education and Sporting Facilities
Fundamental to the
Academy’s philosophy and vision is the education of the whole person
including educating students to maintain a healthy lifestyle through
physical fitness and participation in sporting activities.
To achieve this vision for our students the Academy has developed a
range of specialist facilities for the teaching of physical education.
These include:
- A 25 metre heated indoor swimming pool built to international
standards with changing rooms and spectator viewing area.
- An international standard-sized gymnasium for basketball,
volleyball and netball which is also used for the teaching of basic
skills in physical education and a range of other sports.
- A turfed football field for the teaching of skills in a variety
of sports and for inter-house and inter-school outdoor sporting
activities including football and athletics.
- Four outdoor tennis courts for the teaching of basic skills in
tennis and for tennis tournaments.
- An outdoor games court for the teaching of skills in basketball,
volleyball, netball and other sports, as well as for inter house and
inter-school sporting carnivals and competitions.
Latest Resources
Al Jazeera Academy accesses resources sourced
from suppliers around the world. Educational software,
teaching resources, reading programmes, maths programmes and library
titles are available for use by students and staff of the Academy.
